Breaking It Down

To help you understand the situation in greater depth you will be each exploring the issue through different relevant viewpoints; that of a Catholic farmer, a Protestant land-owner and a British Parliamentary Official.
These people were all involved in the potato famine in varying ways. It is essential, that to decide weather or not the potato famine was a genocide or not with in depth justification, you must examine the situtation from all view points.

Firstly, you must gain basic history of Ireland leading up to this event. Examine the following site, http://www.abitoblarney.com/potatofamine.htm

Secondly, developed a basic overview of the genocide. Use the following site to do this, http://www.aepizeta.org/~codine/famine/gen.html 

Then, after you have gained a basic knowledge of the history and genocide of Ireland, you split into your three personas;
- British Parliamentary Official
- Protestant land-owner
- Catholic farmer
You must complete your seperate tasks that were allocated to you. Go to the 'Resources' section of this webquest to find your individual tasks.

Once you have all completed your tasks, come together to begin the large task of this webquest. Yow must debate as to weather you believe it was/was not a genocide or not.
